Miami Grand Prix - 5th May - 7th May 2023

Welcome back to the Formula One weekend. This time we are going to visit the USA Miami circuit. Formula One is here for the second time, as you may know it is a new circuit on the calendar, starting last year's premiere. So what will it be like this year? Let's find out!

Before getting down to the business, I can not forgot to talk about the hottest news in F1:

  1. Charles Leclerc is going to release a song on 8th May, so don't forget to listen here. If you already listened to the first one, you might have noticed he plays really nicely on the paino. The song is a melancholic ballad and it is perfect to listen to when you need to take a break and just sit back and relax.

  2. Brad Pitt is going to join the F1 Grid from the Silverstone GP to the end of the season as an 11th team. The reason for this? Well, he is filming a movie about F1 and needs to film it with some real content. I can not wait to see how well will he do!

Now back into this weekend:

As last year, the GP was full of famous people, if you were lucky enough to get there or just watch it on TV, you might have seen Vin Diesel with Ludacris, Shakira, Tom Cruise, Roger Federer, Martin Garrix, Queen Latifah, William's sisters and many more. Miami GP is a big deal for Logan Sargeant because Miami is his home race. See some pictures here.

Some interesting facts about Miami GP:

  1. The circuit for the F1 Miami Grand Prix is 5.41 kilometers (3.36 miles) long and includes 19 turns.

  2. The F1 Miami Grand Prix is the second Formula One race held in the United States, alongside the United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas.

  3. The Miami Grand Prix is a part of a multi-year agreement between Formula One and the city of Miami, with the aim of increasing the sport's popularity in the United States.

  4. The Miami Grand Prix is one of the only F1 races held on a street circuit, which means that the drivers have to navigate tight corners and narrow roads.

Let's move onto the 2023 race itself. First we got pretty interesting Practices, few cars hit the walls. Qualifying was also pretty intense with Hamilton not getting into Q3 and Leclerc hitting the wall which cause for a few drivers not to set their best time. Also the home boy Sargeant did not do so well, Qualifying P20. So the qualy results for Sunday race were quite interesting, having 3 Spanish speaking drivers in top 3 at the podium on Saturday.

As you might have guessed it was very interesting start for a Miami race, which is really hard when it comes to overtaking, with Max in 9th place and his teammate in 1st. Also Lewis starting 13th...well, let's move onto the Sunday race!

If you are an early bird when it comes to the Sunday race, you get lucky to watch the Driver's Parade, it takes place before the race. Each driver gets assigned a car, usually some kind of veteran, and driver and takes one lap in this car, waving at fans. It is almost like that scene from Hunger Games, where they drive in the carriages and everyone is hypping them up. Well, why am I talking about it now. This year, Carlos and Charles decided to take a drive together and Charles did take over the wheel and the internet is full of beautiful photos showing beautiful brotherly bond between those two teammates. You can also see the proof of perfect teammate friendship during the challenge and games videos.

Before we look into the race itself, let me just sums the race up by saying that this race was like a masterclass on How To Drive in F1 and Win by Max Verstappen, who was unbelievable during this race!

So it is lights out and let's race!

The whole race was really interesting from the start, VER started out in 9th place and he quickly moved closer and closer to his usual spot P1. PER did good at the start of the race keeping his P1 position for some time.

HAM was struggling from the beginning but later on he worked the pace up and got himself a P6. Next to HAM, his teammate RUS did well during the race starting P6 and ending P4, well done George!

Both Ferrari drivers were struggling since the beginning of the race with SAI loosing his P3 and ending the race in P5 and also getting 5 second penalty. His teammate also did not have the best race of his year with his P7 in Qualifying he tried to push during the race but for some times we could see that the Haas of HUL was faster than Ferrari with no. 16, ending this race in P7.

ALO went from his P2 to P3. His teammate STR ended the race with P12. Full race results:

Miami was a race everyone was so excited for and preparing for. Packed with famous people, nice weather and good mood. Let's be real, when I hear Miami I imagine big parties, Spring Breaks, booze, good music, amazing people, sun and the ocean!

Next week is a little break but don't worry, the Italian Imola is right around the corner and I can not wait for the Ferrari's home race.

Let's hope, luck will be on their side and they will get podium! If not this one, let it at least be Monza, which will take place in September. I think that Ferrari deserves at least one full win, so Charles can compose some positive and happy music next time! Well we will see. You can always shorten your wait by reading my already published articles and I will also publish few more before next race!

What about you? What team or driver are you rooting for this season? What do you think about the unlucky season for McLaren and Ferrrari, is it full time or will the tables turn and a miracle will happen? Let me know in comments down below.

Till next time,

Natalie Kika
